Featured in this lot is an 1893 First Edition of the Columbian Memorial edition of "The Soldier in our Civil War: A Pictorial History of the Conflict, 1861 - 1865", the book was initially conceptualized to "Illustrate the Valor of the Soldier as Displayed on the Battle-Field", it now serves the same purpose, but can also be used as an artifact. The book contains book includes eye-witness sketches, and stories. The book was edited by Paul F Mottelay, and T Campbell-Copeland, and "Assisted by the most notable generals and commander of both sides", and with an introduction by Robert B. Beath - Past Commander-in-Chief - Grand Army of the Republic. The book is in good condition for the age, although the front cover is loosely connected. The book measures 12 1/4" W, 17" T, and 1 1/4" D.
