Available in this lot is a Charles M. Russell framed print titled "The Wagon Boss". Charles Marion Russell (March 19, 1864 – October 24, 1926), also known as C. M. Russell, Charlie Russell, and "Kid" Russell, was an artist of the Old American West. Russell created more than 2,000 paintings of cowboys, Indians, and landscapes set in the Western United States and in Alberta, Canada, in addition to bronze sculptures. Known as 'the cowboy artist', Russell was also a storyteller and author. The print displays a soldier on horseback looking over his shoulder to a line of ox pulled covered wagons. The figure is shown in a blue long sleeve shirt with a rifle resting across his lap. He is seated on a beautiful horse and is turned looking over his shoulder inspecting the caravan. The covered wagons are each pulled by a large team of oxen, with at least four wagons in the line. The background shows a hill covered landscape with a small town/ fort set next to a river. The piece is signed in the bottom left hand corner, reading "Copyright 09 C. M. Russell". The print is set into a wooden frame with an off-white border around the art. The piece shows good condition overall, with some light wear across the frame. The frame measures 21 1/8" wide by 17" tall, with the art measuring 15 3/4" wide by 11 1/4" tall.
