This is an excellent handwoven, flat weave rug by master weaver Pedro Sosa. This rug was made using 100% soft, fine, handspun wool yarns in an outstanding Third Phase Antique Chief’s Blanket pattern. The rug was handwoven with a tight weave using 100% handspun wool yarns that offer natural variegation and durability with color fast aniline dyes. The tight, handwoven weave shows bright, rich colors in the fine Navajo style, Third Phase Antique Chief’s Blanket (3rd Phase) pattern of the time-honored Zapotec, multi-generational craft by a master weaver, Pedro Sosa. This incredible example shows Sosa’s traditional interpretation of the 3rd Phase blanket with a wonderfully banded '8 corss' design and borders of speckled cream with bands of black, brown, and cream with outlining in red, cream, and black to the crosses. The rug shows long, braided black tassels. The piece is brand new, in pristine condition, with a fine, tight weave. The rug measures 5’ by 4’ (five foot by four foot).
