Featured in this lot is this 1909 edition of "Thirty One Years On The Plains And In The Mountains" by self-described "Chief of Scouts" Capt. William F. Drannan, published 1900 by Rhodes & McClure Publishing Company, preface 1899.Harvey L. Carter, author of one of the most authorative books on Kit Carson, asserts, "what was narrated as fact by 'this man' was actually a tissue of lies". Other historians believe Drannan, at worst, may be guilty of mixing fact and fiction in his books. Regardless of which one believes, this book is viewed as an important description of the American West. The condition of this book is fair to good with some slight wear to the outside cover and the outside and inside spine of the book and shows some browning to the pages consistent with the age of the book. The measurements of this book are 7 7/8" x 5 1/2" x 1 1/2".
