Featured in this lot is a 14 book collection of "The American Indians" by The Editors of Time-Life Books in Alexandria, Virginia circa 1995. This is not a full set as there are ten missing books. Numerous vintage black-and-white images from the late 1800s and early 1900s are one of the series' many wonderful features. The books feature maps, more recent color photographs, many of which were taken in museums, of both the native people and the original artifacts that have been preserved and more. The information and the essays gathered together by teams of professionals and great writers is invaluable. The complete listing is as follows: The Buffalo Hunters, Cycles of Life, The European Challenge, The First Americans, The Indians of California, Keepers of the Totem, The Mighty Chieftains, People of the Desert, People of the Ice and Snow, People of the Lakes, The Spirit World, Tribes of the Southern Woodlands, War for the Plains and The Way of the Warrior. The books show a faux leather covering with stamped designs, a color photo set in the center of each book and a yellow title against a black background. The spines feature the book series name, the title of the book and the authors in gold gilt lettering. The books in this collection show good condition overall with some wear to the covers and edges from use over the years. The interior pages show good condition as well. The books measure 11 1/8" L x 8 5/8" W x 5/8" D. The collective weight of all 14 books is 24 pounds and 6 ounces.
