For your consideration is a rare tin-type photograph, aluminum postcard of Montana Agricultural College, published by Philips Book Store in Bozeman, MT. The Montana Agricultural College was founded in 1893 and Philips Book Store was opened in 1897 by Sherman Phillips and A.M Ryan, who had been president of the university. Phillips Book Store was open on Main Street in Bozeman for 115 years. Montana Agricultural Collage became Montana State University (MSU) in 1965. The postcard is made of a thin sheet of aluminum with the photograph of the college tin-typed onto it. The photo shows the buildings in great detail. On the back is where the address and postage would go. The post card is in good condition for its age of over 120 years, with some minor scratches. On the back of the postcard is written “Miss Henrica Cok”. The postcard measures 5 3/8" X 3". This is a very rare and unique piece of Bozeman and Montana history.
