Featured in this lot is this Tohono O'odham Indian handwoven bear grass basket collection, circa mid 1900's. The collection features a serving basket and a smaller personal woven platter. They are both constructed from bear grass and feature darker, naturally dyed strands of bear grass fashioned into geometric patterns. The Tohono O'odham are Native American peoples of the Sonoran Desert, primarily from the U.S. state of Arizona and the northern Mexican state of Sonora. Tohono O'odham means 'Desert People.' The federally recognized tribe is known as the Tohono O'odham Nation in the United States. The condition of this basket collection is good, with no obvious signs of damage. This piece measures 7 3/4" in diameter by 4" tall.
