Featured in this lot is this Tohono O'odham Papago Indian hand woven basket circa 1950's. This basket features a wonderfully and professionally crafted bear grass or Yucca construction that shows a tightly woven weft and a floral decoration to the inside and outside of the basket. The Tohono O'odham or Papago are a Native American people of the Sonoran Desert, residing primarily in the U.S. state of Arizona and the northern Mexican state of Sonora. The federally recognized tribe is known in the United States as the Tohono O'odham Nation. The condition of this basket is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this basket is 4 3/4" x 13 1/4" x 13 1/4".
