Featured in this lot is this Tombstone, Arizona territory horse hide stagecoach gauntlets circa 1880-1910 and displayed in the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum; Provenance: From the Tombstone Western Heritage Museum in Tombstone, Arizona. The gauntlet feature a wonderfully and professionally crafted horse hide and hair construction that shows a mitten design with a thumb and a pocket for the rest of your fingers. Heavy stagecoach gauntlets, typically made of thick leather and lined for warmth, were essential gear for team drivers braving the rough trails and harsh weather of the frontier. These durable gloves protected drivers’ hands from rope burns, cold, and injury while managing reins over long, grueling distances. The gauntlets comes complete with an original museum tag that reads as follows: Horse Hair gloves. The condition of this pair of stagecoach gauntlets is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of these gauntlets is 13 7/8" x 8 1/2". The collective weight of this pair of gauntlets is 14oz. MS-068
