ncluded in this lot is an Original Armand American Horse Alpaca Silver and Turquoise Squash Blossom Naja Pendant necklace by Armand American Horse (1982- ), a noted Lakota Sioux Indian silversmith artist, stamped hallmark on reverse bottom of the Naja. Hung from a smooth rolo chain, the stamped Naja features a central Sleeping Beauty turquoise cabochon. It is pronounced Na-Ja and is the shape of a crescent, as seen throughout the history of man on cave walls, coats of armor and flags. Because of its' association with the moon, it is therefore associated with the alchemy symbol of silver. The 17th century Navajo Indians, hammered these crescents to adorn as jewelry. In the Native American culture it is a symbol of the spiritual aspects of femininity, such as intuition, creativity and wisdom. The Naja design is a reminder of the Diné (Navajo) people’s resilience in the face of unimaginable adversity. It is a symbol of creating something beautiful out of despair, of rising from the ashes, of fertility and new life. This turquoise Squash Blossom Naja pendant necklace is in very nice condition, no marring noted. Total weight is 52.9 grams, 16.25"L from clasp to Naja bottom edge, Naja is 2.25" x 2.5".
