Featured in this lot is this Turtle Trademark wicker and wooden frame creels circa 1930's to 1950's. There are two creels in this collection that shows wicker construction with different design to the frame. The Turtle Trademark creel shows birch bark wrapped lip with a traditional Turtle Trademark locking clasp carved from wood and marked as follows: Turtle Trade Mark. The second shows a decorative wicker construction with a ornate clasp design of a drop wicker loop with a wooden clasp and a cloth shoulder strap. The condition of this wicker creels is preserved with the Turtle Trade Mark creel missing its shoulder strap and the latch on the wooden framed creel showing some impeding wear but otherwise shows a preserved condition. The measurements of these creels are 7 1/4" x 12 3/4" x 6 1/2" and 9 1/2" x 13 1/4" x 7". The collective weight of this pair of creels is 2lb 2oz.
Provenance: From a prominent ex-Bozeman private collection who purchased the majority of his collection from Cowan's, Skinner, Bonhams, Morphy's, Sotheby's, March in Montana, North American Auction and other well revered auction houses.
