Featured in this lot are two, limited edition 23 karat gold-plated trading cards from the Pokemon TCG circa 1999. The 1999 Burger King promotional Pokémon toys were a set of toys distributed with Kids Meals at Burger King from November 8 to December 31, 1999. All the toys were paired with trading cards, which were made exclusively for this promotion. The toys and cards were used to promote the new movie "Pokemon: The First Movie". There were 59 toys in total (although it was promoted as 57 due to 3 of the toys being variants of each other). In addition to the toys and cards, there was a set of six 23-karat gold plated cards which came in Poké Balls that were available to buy at the restaurant chain that year. The gold plated cards came in either a blue or red box; with images of the Pokémon, the card, and the whole set of trading cards. The card is a thick piece of 23 karat gold plated metal in a plastic cover, with a picture on the front and back, and Pokédex data on the back. It also came with a certificate of authenticity signed by the Chairman of NoA at the time. Both the card and the certificate are contained in a plastic Poké Ball with a shiny red top, with a button for opening and closing. The two limited edition cards are Poliwhirl and Togepi which come in their original boxes and poke ball containers. Both come in the plastic cases with the sealed Certificate of Authenticity sitting behind the card. Both show good condition overall with little to no wear present. The original boxes show wear from their age and use over the years. The 23 karat plated cards measure 2 11/16" L x 1 11/16" W x 3/16" D, while the poke balls measures 3 3/8" in height and 12 1/2" in diameter. The original boxes measure 3 5/8" L x 4 1/8" W x 3 5/8" H.
