Included in this lot we have a Model 1840 U.S. Civil War Infantry Non-Commisioned Officers sword originating from 1863. The sword was manufactured by the Ames Manufacturing Company located in Chicopee, Massachusetts and was one of the more prominent independent arms dealer to the Union. The sword displays a single edged blade with a brass guard and grip. The blade displays a fuller along each side with a single cutting edge. The blade is marked "AMES MFG Co. Chicopee Mass" in faded lettering on one side and "U.S. AHC 1863" on the other side. The piece shows a brass D guard and a disk guard. The piece shows a brass textured grip and pommel. The piece displays a tag with information on the sword and pricing tag reading "M1840 NCO Sword $775.00". The sword shows wonderful condition overall with an even patina across the blade and some light wear across the pommel. The sword measures 38 1/2" long with the blade measuring 32" long.
