Lot consisting of one U.S. issue Model 1904 “Hospital Bolo” knife and one U.S. issue Model 1917 Bolo knife. The Model 1904 Bolo with rounded blade is stamped on the right side of the blade in front of the brass guard “U S” over the serial number 16257. The left side is stamped “S A” over flaming bomb stamp and the date “1910.” The S A stands for Springfield Armory. It comes with a very heavy, metal reinforced black leather sheath in fine condition. Walnut handle with finger grooves is excellent. The 12” blade shows light use and is bright. The Model 1917 has a very dark aged approx. 10” blade that is marked “U S” over “1917” on the right side ahead of the guard and “Plumb” over “Phila.” on the left side. It has the correct coarse walnut handle, steel mounts and tight fitting canvas with leather reinforced sheath. Both of these items were used as entrenching tools as well as close combat weapons.
