Included in this lot we have a U.S. Springfield model 1873 trapdoor bayonet and scabbard. The model 1873 bayonet and scabbard was made for the iconic Indian Wars and Spanish American War Trapdoor Springfield Rifle, caliber .45-70 that was in service from 1873 up until the end of the 19th century. The scabbard is of metal construction with the leather belt loop scabbard with the brass "US" insignia intact. The bayonet is marked "US" on the top of the bayonet and the scabbard is unmarked aside from the insignia. This piece is in good condition overall with some discoloration on the scabbard, and the bayonet has some slight pitting. It measures 21 1/2" long.
