For your consideration is this Underwood Standard Typewriter No. 5, circa 1917. The typewriter was the precursor of our modern computers. This typewriter shows iconic design and craftsmanship that was frequently seen from Underwood typewriters. The Underwood Typewriter Company was a manufacturer of typewriters headquartered in New York City, New York. Underwood produced what is considered the first widely successful, modern typewriter. This typewriter shows good overall condition; some of the buttons stick and its age can be seen in the slight oxidation adorning its frame. The measurements of this typewriter are 10" x 16” x 12".
