Featured in this lot is a Union Pacific Collection Photograph of, "Work Crew Near Green River", circa 1868 to 1882. The photograph features a Union Pacific work crew sitting and standing on and around a Union Pacific steam locomotive commonly known as the "American" type 4-4-0, most likely built by Rogers Locomotive and Machine Works of Paterson, New Jersey. Union Pacific steam locomotive No. 119, an American 4-4-0, gained fame when it participated in in the "Golden Spike" ceremony at Promontory, Utah to celebrate the completion of the "First transcontinental railroad"in 1869. Two women and a young child are seated atop the "pilot" (cow catcher), railroad ties are shown stacked to the side, presumably having been off-loaded from the flatbed cars by the workers, a caboose attached at the rear of the train. This photograph reflects a small part of the monumental undertaking that the transcontinental railroad truly was. The photograph print is in very fine condition attached to a hardboard, professionally mounted in a hardwood frame, the frame having the appearance of rough-cut rustic lumber. No obvious marring noted. Visible art measures 15.5"W x 19.5"L, frame is 19.25"W x 23.25"L
