In this lot are four very fine Nuevo Cadiz beads. This type of Venetian glass bead is named after a 16th century Spanish port on an island off the coast of Venezuela, where this unique bead was first recognized by archaeologists. The first two beads are 1 5/8" long by 1/4" X 1/4". These beads show the classical thick center core of dark blue with a thin white second layer and then a blue final layer. The next bead is a very thin bead. This bead is 1" long x 1/4" X 1/4". The last bead is 1 5/8" long by 1/4" X 1/4". The unique thing about this bead is that it is "twisted". Finding a Nuevo Cadiz long bead with a twist in it is rare. These beads are in good condition.
