The trunk shows rugged plywood construction with metal hardware, the faded remnants of Forest Service Green paint with a red stripe on each side, and stenciling on the front and back. The stenciling cannot be entirely made out, but it does say. in part, "Forest Service" / "Spokane, Wash." It also has two badges stenciled onto the front. A piece of paper stapled to the inside reads "This box packed with 108-322 Generators For American RL-3 Lanterns". What is actually inside the trunk is a U.S. Forest Service button-up shirt (L or XL), a 2 qt Oasis canteen (safety orange with "Fire" stenciled on the side), and an "Engineer Directional Compass".
