For your consideration are two, unmarked split willow and leather creels from the early 20th century. These creels resemble the style and looks of two major creel makers, W.H. McMonies and George Lawrence Company, but are unmarked. The smaller creel shows a split willow and leather construction with a tight weave. The front leather and metal buckle latches the lid and keeps it secure while the full leather shoulder strap hangs off the back for easy carrying. The fish hole is located on the middle of the lid. The second and smaller creel shows the same split willow and leather construction but the front leather and metal buckle has broken off of this creel. The creel houses a small section of a broken shoulder strap, resulting in this creel not having a shoulder strap. It features strips of leather placed for decoration as well as reinforcement to the creel. The creels show fair to good condition overall with slight damage noted to both from their age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage noted. Still structurally sound. The larger creel measures 7 1/2" L x 14 3/4" W x 9 1/4" H, while the smaller creel measures 7 1/4" L x 14 3/8" W x 9 3/8" H. They have a collective weight of 3 pounds and 14 ounces.
