For your consideration is this elegant U.S. Army Model 1902 Infantry Officer's Dress saber from the 20th century. This saber features an unsharpened blade of steel and is etched on both sides of the blade. The etchings show intricate floral motifs with one side reading, "U.S." and showing the Star of David with it reading, "Proved" in the center. The other side of the blade shows a spread-winged American eagle, representing the Great Seal, surrounded by scroll and floral motifs. The hilt is polished nickel plated brass and shows three strands rolling into the main hand guard. The handle is constructed from a dark colored bakelite, showing a slight chip towards the bottom. The scabbard is constructed from nickel platted steel and is fitted with steel hanging rings. The sword shows good condition with slight present to the guard and handle but no major signs of damage. From the top of the guard to the bottom of the handle it measures 6 1/4" L and has a width of 4 7/8". The blade measures 27 3/4" L x 7/8" W. The entire piece measures 33 3/8" L (without scabbard). With the scabbard it measures 34 1/2" L. It has a total weight of 2 pounds and 4 ounces.
