The center stone is a pear shape tanzanite stone showing a brilliant cut crown and a modified brilliant cut pavilion with a violetish blue color, very good cut grade, and a weight of 6.29 carats. The center stone is profusely decorated with a halo design and a vintage setting to the shoulders. There are 37 natural brilliant round cut diamonds with a weight of 0.73 carats, clarity grade of VS1-SI1, and a color scale of G-H. Tanzanite is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. This example is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles). The piece comes complete with AIGL Inc. (American International Gemological Laboratories, Inc. a GIA certified lab AIGL#: K65E68-EA14775) report and appraisal, confirming the above info and giving a total value of $16,748.00. The ring size is US 7 1/2.
