Featured in this lot is this Vaquero silver mounted half breed bridle circa 1910 to 1920's. The bride set up features a wonderfully and professionally crafted iron and silver mounted construction with a brass ring cricket and leather headstall with silver conchos. the bit is unmarked but shows the characteristics of an older Vaquero bit hand forged form the early 1900's with a square port and the forged half breed bit secured underneath the silver mounting. The reins feature hand braided mohair black and yellow strands for reins which was a popular alternative for working buckaroos who broke their reins; the reins are newer closer to the mid 1900's. The condition of this bridle bit is preserved with heavy oxidation to the bit and shows part of the silver mounting of the slobber bar and shows some wear to the leather of the headstall but otherwise shows a preserved condition. The measurements of this bridle setup is 25 3/4" x 6 1/4" x 2 3/4". The collective weight of this bridle bit is 3lb.
