For your consideration is an early Roman Eye trade bead necklace. “Eye Beads” is a name that derives from the distinctive spots on the outer skin of the bead. The beads are strung on soft buckskin. Each bead is uniquely shaped with white, brown, red, blue, black, and yellow design. There are forty-three beads on this necklace. Three of these beads are Tick-Tac-Toe Eye beads. Six of the beads are striped beads; the rest are types of "Eye" beads and one bead is a "chunk" design. The beads are round or cylinder shaped and average 1/4"-1/2" long. This necklace measures approximately 23" in circumference. The necklace has a center "pendant" of three beads and the "chunk" bead, which hangs down 2 1/2". The beads and this necklace are in good condition.
