For your consideration is this Victor VV-50 Orthophonic Victrola record player circa early 1920's, and collection of records. It used a simple single-spring motor, and a wooden case made of oak or mahogany, with steel protectors on each corner. Early production versions had the cranks in the front of the case, but these were later moved to the right side of the instrument. The Victor Orthophonic Victrola, first demonstrated publicly in 1925, was the first consumer phonograph designed specifically to play electrically recorded phonograph records. The combination was recognized instantly as a major step forward in sound reproduction. The condition of this Victor Orthophonic record player is good with no obvious signs of damage the functionality was not tested. The measurements of this Victor record player is 9" x 11 1/2" x 21 1/2" with the handle in.
