Presented in this lot is an Antique Victorian Era Walker & Hall Sterling Silver Jewelry Box, 1901. This stunning jewelry box features the Walker & Hall pennant hallmark, left facing lion passant Sterling hallmark stamp, and faded hallmark stamps observed on right side of box. Interior of box lined with cedar, hinged lid is decorated with horizontal striping, rounded corners, centre blank for engraving. Walker & Hall (1845 - 1963) were manufacturers of gold and sterling silver goods, stainless steel, Britannia metal, cutlery and electro-plate. The firm was established in Sheffield in 1845 by George Walker. Between 1848 and 1853 the company was known as Walker, Coulson & Hall until they became simply Walker & Hall in 1853. The company became well known throughout the world for its high quality fully hallmarked silver. This sterling silver box is in good overall preserved condition, rich patina observed throughout. Measures 3.5"W x 6.25"L x 2.5"H, total weight is 671.8 gm.
