For your consideration is this Victorian Era Rococo Revival Walnut and Needlepoint Parlor Rocking Chair, circa 1900 to 1910. This charming piece features classic graceful hand carved outward curved arms, hand-stitched floral design needlepoint upholstered back and removable seat cushion, hand-carved rose design crest, turned front legs and front stretcher. Original wicker seat under cushion. This is a classic piece of 19th-century furniture characterized by intricate hand-stitched floral upholstery and an ornate, dark wood frame. These chairs served as functional showpieces in Victorian parlor rooms, blending status, comfort, and the craftsmanship of home embroidery. The Rococo Revival style is an ornate 19th-century design movement that resurrected the playful, glamorous, and hyper-feminine aesthetics of 18th-century French court life. Emerging primarily in France and Britain in the 1830s before spreading globally, it served as a romantic rebellion against the rigid, straight lines of Industrial Era mass production. The movement peaked between 1840 and 1870, dominating high-society interior design and decorative arts. The rocking chair is in nice condition overall, rich patina noted throughout. Measures 21"W x 29.5"D x 34"H, weight is 12lb, 14oz.
