Included in this lot is a Vintage Ben Pearson Rogue Recurve Bow 7058 and Vintage Howard Hill Arrows (12), circa 1970s. Bow length 58", 50# draw at 28", black Pearsonite glass limbs, marblewood and select hardwoods, black wood on sides with lightwood in the centre, pistol grip. S/N 87421-400. Marked "Ben Pearson Rogue 7058". A high-quality custom recurve bow designed for right-hand shooters. Ben Pearson (1898 – 1971) was an American archer, bowyer and fletcher, most notable for starting the first company in the United States to mass-produce archery sets and equipment. Known as the “Father of Modern Archery”, Ben Pearson started making bows in the mid 1920's. After several years in the industry Ben Pearson bows were known for their precision manufacturing. Ben was among the first inductees of the Archery Hall Of Fame in 1972, also he is in several other halls- National Bowhunters Hall of Fame - The National Sporting Goods Industry Hall of Fame- Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame - Arkansas Outdoor Sportsman Hall Of Fame - Arkansas Bowhunters Hall of Fame- also received the Compton Medal of Honor in 1967 from the National Field Archery Association. Howard Hill (1899-1975) was an archer who was unofficially referred to as the “World’s Greatest Archer”. He is the only person to win 196 archery field tournaments in succession. In addition, Hill served as a supporting actor, trick-shot performer, and technical adviser on archery for Hollywood feature films including the 1938 "Adventures of Robin Hood" (starring Errol Flynn). Hill was never a commercial bowyer and acquired arrows from existing arrow makers such as the Stotler Brothers and Ben Pearson. In the 1960s, he and Ted Ekin started an archery shop in California which eventually moved to Hamilton, Montana and became Howard Hill Archery with Ted's son Craig Ekin taking over the business in 1979. Ten of the arrows have field point arrowheads, two have broadheads. Some of the fieldpoints are stamped, "Howard Hill". Arrows are in good preserved condition. Fieldpoints measure 32.75"L, broadheads are 33.5"L. Arrows come with a "Bear" brand black leather quiver with zippered front pouch and carry strap. Interior arrow divider can be removed. Quiver measures 5.75" w x 19.25"L. Combined weight is 1lb, 12oz. The recurve bow is in good overall condition, scratches and wear consistent with use and age. Measures 54" from end to end. Weight is 1lb, 12oz.
