Featured in this lot is this Vintage Fox Fur Stole, with Head, Feet and Tail, circa early to mid 20th century. The manufacturing of fur garments of fashion began in the early 18th century in France. By the mid 19th century, both Americans and Europeans began wearing fur shawls to add a touch of royalty to their outfits. Fox fur stoles became a pinnacle of fashion, symbolizing wealth, sophistication and even royal lineage from the early 20th century through the 1960s, especially popular for their luxurious look in the Roaring Twenties and beyond, evolving from whole-animal taxidermy to stylish wraps. Worn by affluent women, fox stoles (often whole, sometimes with heads, feet, and tails) signified wealth and high society, becoming a must-have accessory. Today, vintage fox stoles are seen as historical fashion pieces, representing past glamour while paired with modern wear such as denim jeans and blazers. This fox fur stole features the head, legs and very fluffy tail. The fur is brown colour with both silver and orange highlights and the whole being luxuriously soft and fluffy. Stole is in very nice condition, one foot was removed, no damage observed, appears well cared for. Measures 51.5" long.
