Featured in this lot is a vintage Henri Weinhard Root Beer tin advertising sign. In 1862, Henry Weinhard, a young brewer from Germany, moved to Portland, Oregon and purchased an old brewery on the corner of NW First and Davis, before moving in 1864 to a facility occupying two full blocks at NW 12th and Burnside. This Blitz-Weinhard brewery in Portland survived as a brewery until 1999, when it was sold by the Stroh Brewery Company (who owned it at the time) to the Miller Brewing Company, who closed it down (per Wikipedia). This advertising sign is marked "Established 1856 Henry Weinhard's Root Beer Premium Draught Style Head" and measures 33.75" x 25.75". It shows some scuffs and marks but is in good condition for age.
