For your consideration are Vintage Hopi and Alaskan Athabascan Books. Included is a First Edition of "Book of the Hopi" by Frank Waters, 1963, hand-signed on the front endpaper by Hopi Oswald White Bear Fredericks (Kucha Honowah - White Bear,) a Hopi artist and storyteller who collected oral histories of Hopi people that were the basis for this book. The book documents the historical and religious worldview of the Hopi tribe. It was based on oral testimony from approximately thirty Hopi elders who chose to share their sacred traditions, myths, and ceremonial meanings to preserve them for future generations. It describes the Hopi "Four Worlds" of existence and the tribe's emergence into this current world, details the meaning and function of year-long religious rituals, including the significance of Kachinas, and covers Hopi history from pre-contact times through their struggles with Spanish missionaries and the U.S. government. The second book, a First Edition of A Dena'ina Legacy K'TL'EGH'I Sukdu" by Peter Kalifornsky, 1991, is a landmark collection of 147 bilingual Dena'ina-English writings by Peter Kalifornsky.
