This is a fabulous late-vintage men’s or large ring from renowned master Navajo silversmith Marco Begaye in sterling silver with a nice Sleeping Beauty Turquoise center stone. Marco Begaye (Navajo, b. 1957) was born in Ganado, Arizona in 1957, growing up on the Navajo Reservation with his family of noted silversmiths such as his father Jimmy Begaye and brother Vernon Begaye, where he learned his craft. Marco is known for incorporating the traditional Navajo designs he learned form his family with contemporary styles, with beautiful stones and fine silver work. His superb craftsmanship, attention to detail and attractive designs have earned him recognition and numerous awards over the years. His work has been featured in magazines, and in the book “Navajo Indian Jewelry” by Jerry and Lois Jacka. The ring is signed, MB / STERLING, the correct signature from Marco Begaye. The ring shows a size of US 13 ¼ and collective weight of 11.8 grams. There is a single polished cabochon on Sleeping Beauty Mine Turquoise in natural untreated form showing a slight green-ish hue from honest use and wear. The condition of this Navajo ring is good with some slight patina to the sterling silver but otherwise shows a good overall condition. The box measurements of the piece are total width 1 1/8-inch, total height 1 1/8-inches, total depth 7/8-inches. US Size 13 ¼.
