Included in this lot is a Vintage New Haven Clock Gingerbread Mantel Clock, circa late 1800s to early 1900s. This wood "gingerbread" mantel clock features pressed and carved oak case with stenciled glass door. The decorative wooden trim resembles "gingerbread" trim on houses, hence the name. These spring-driven, 8-day mechanical clocks feature pendulums, usually chime on the hour, and were staples of 19th-century homes. These clocks, often referred to as "kitchen clocks" or "parlor clocks," are valued for their vintage charm and intricate woodwork. The New Haven Clock Company was founded in 1853 and became a global leader in affordable brass clocks based in New Haven, Connecticut. It revolutionized the industry by mass-producing affordable, high-quality timepieces using stamped brass gears. In 1902 leadership of the firm passed to Walter C. Camp, the legendary Yale football coach who is better known as the "Father of American football. This gingerbread mantel clock is in good overall condition, clock functions. Measures 14"W x 22.5"H x 4.5"D, weight is 7lb, 4oz.
