For your consideration is a Vintage Oscar Crockett Horse Bit and Leather Headstall, circa 1938 to 1949. This lightweight aluminum horse bit is hand-engraved, usually used for parades and show use. Hallmark is stamped on the inside shank, "CROCKETT". Oscar Crockett's (1887-1947) horse bits were primarily produced between 1920 and 1949; in 1951 the company became Crockett-Renalde. These bits are highly collectible pieces of Western Americana originally produced by the Crockett Bit and Spur Company. These bits are recognized for their craftsmanship, ranging from mass-produced steel and aluminum models. Hand-engraving on both outer areas of the shanks including the buttons. Bit displays a well preserved condition with normal wear from use, headstall leather is supple and in good overall condition. Measures 6.25"W x 7.625"L x 2.75"D, combined weight is 2lb, 2oz.
