Offered in this lot is a pair of Alaskan style/shape, marked Snowcraft snowshoes. "Snowcraft Inc. Norway Maine, U.S.A." is marked on the cross base. Snowcraft was one of a couple companies contracted to supply the US military with snowshoes for use in Italy by the famed 10th Mountain Division during WWll. These snowshoes are made of Ash or Birch wood, hide, and gut. One shoe still has its leather fastening. Both shoes are amazing when looking at the fact they are each made from a SINGLE piece, eight and a half foot long steamed bent wood with no cracks. The lashing on both shoes is in very good condition. The leather fastenings have some weathering. The snowshoes are 4' long and 12" wide and in good display condition.
