Featured in this lot is this personal ledger book from Virginia City for the Alder Lodge No. 30 circa 1901. The ledger features a wonderfully and professionally crafted leather bound construction with gold gilt designs and lettering covering the front cover and spine of the book. The spine reads, "Minutes / Alder Lodge No. 30 A. O. U. W. / Virginia City / Geo. D. Barnard & co. Manufacturers St. Louis" in gold gilt lettering. The spine features large ribs or hubs which are horizontal bands that are created during the binding process. The shape, number, and thickness of the bands can indicate the age of the binding. The first 43 interior pages are filled with writing but the rest of the ledger book is empty. The book shows good condition overall with some wear to the spine and corners of the front cover, but no signs of obvious damage is noted. The book measures 16" L x 11 1/2" W x 1 3/4" D.
