Featured in this lot is this 1930s, Walder Schützenvereine (Shooting Club) hunting sword / dagger. This is believed to have come from the Waldeslust Wald e.V., a historic club started in 1926 at the Hierl Inn in Wald, Germany by its first shooting master, Fritz Artmann of Wald, until 1933. This hunting sword is marked on the blade reading, "Walder-Schutzen-Verein" on one side and shows floral and scroll motifs on both sides of the blade. It is set with a brass guard and fittings with a brass shell guard. It shows a stag antler handle with a brass pommel. Marked on the guard twice is the number "13". The sheath shows a hardened leather construction with brass fittings on the top and the bottom showing a brass acorn on the bottom brass fitting. The blade and sheath show good condition overall with slight wear present from its age and use over the years, but no signs of major damage is noted. The blade measures 19 1/8" L x 7/8" W, while the handle, from the top of the guard, measures 6 1/2" L x 3 5/8" W x 1 1/8" D. The entire sword measures 24 5/8" L. With the sheath on, the sword measures 24 3/4" L and has a total weight of 1 pound and 2 ounces.
