Featured in this lot is an oil painting of a cabin in the woods from artist Walter Ashworth who as born in 1883 and died in 1952. The painting features a wonderfully and professionally crafted oil on canvas construction that shows an older look circa 1900 - 1915. The scene shows a cabin in a swampy looking wooded area with a man with a hat standing in the doorway. The artist's signature is in the bottom right hand corner. He was a sculptor, painter and teacher, based in Coventry, Warwickshire, who played a key role in art development there. He was also a principal of its College of Art, chairman of the Coventry and Warwickshire Society of Artists and was a war artist during World War II. Exhibited at RA and locally. Modernist stone reliefs designed by Ashworth in the mid-1930s adorn the walls of Coventry Technical College. The condition of this framed oil on canvas painting is good with some wear to the inside of the ornate frame but otherwise shows good overall condition. The measurements of this framed oil painting are 35 1/4" x 29 1/2" and the visible artwork measures 29" x 23 1/4".*
