For your consideration is a collection of Western Artists books (3), including "George Phippen the Man, the Artist" by Louise Phippen, a signed Special Limited Edition First Printing 1985, published by Palph Tanner Associates, Inc, Prescott, Arizona. Phippen was an American sculptor and painter from Arizona. He was the co-founder and first president of the Cowboy Artists of America. He is the namesake of the Phippen Museum in Prescott, Arizona. Over the course of twenty years, Phippen did approximately 3,000 works in his brief career. He was a sculptor and painter in representational style of western genre, figures, horses and cattle. His work included the bronze sculpture Cowboy in a Storm.
Also included is the book "New Interpretations" by Dale A. Burk, a larger-than-life figure whose passion for Montana’s wilderness drove nearly everything he did, including his writing, which paved the way for the protection of wilderness areas in Montana and beyond.
Lastly is included the catalogue of 1971 exhibition of the works of W.H.D. Koener, a noted illustrator of the American West whose works became known to new audiences when his painting, nicknamed A Charge to Keep, was used as the cover image for the ghostwritten biography by the same name by George W. Bush. This painting, which hung in the Oval Office during the Bush presidency was of special interest to journalists due to the interpretation given by Bush of the painting's meaning in light of the meaning and title attached to the painting by the artist.
