This is "The Western Frontier Library" collection of 49 books. Each of the books is hard bound and comes with the original dust jacket. These books were published by University of Oklahoma Press. To find 49 of the 61 books in this series, in such good condition, is rare. The University of Oklahoma Press started the Western Frontier Library Series in 1953 with "The Vigilantes of Montana". The series was aimed to "...introduce...many exciting events of our frontier past, and some of the memorable writing about them." Each volume in the library included an introduction by a "modern authority in the field". The latest date first printing in this collection is 1975; the publisher went on publishing books in the series as late as 2004, eventually publishing over 60 titles. The titles in this collection are “The Vigilantes of Montana”, “The Banditti of the Plains”, “The Authentic Life of Billy the Kid”, “Wah-to-yah (2)”, “A Sketch of Sam Bass”, “A Tour on the Prairies”, “Three Years Among the Comanches”, “The Great Diamond Hoax”, “HANDS UP”, “Twenty-four Years a Cowboy and Ranchman in Southern Texas and Old Mexico”, “The Beef Bonanza”, “A Lady's Life in the Rocky Mountains”, “My Sixty Years on the Plains”, “The Life of John Wesley Hardin”, “Boots and Saddles”, “War-Path and Bivouac”, “Pony Tracks”, “The West Of The Texas Kid”, “1881-1910”, “Life in the saddle(2)”, “Fifty Years on the Trail”, “The Banditti of the Prairies”, “Cattle-raising on the Plains of North America”, “Campaigning with Crook”, “Life of Tom Horn”, “Cow Country”, “The Indians and the Nurse”, “Experiences of a Special Indian Agent”, “Frontier Trails”, “When Buffalo Ran”, “King Fisher”, “Following the Guidon”, “The Xit Ranch of Texas”, “Odyssey of a Desert Prospector”, “The Life and Adventures of a Quaker Among the Indians”, “Up the Trail in '79”, “A Tenderfoot in Colorado”, “A Trip to the Yellowstone National Park”, “Mountain Charley (2)”, “Bill Doolin”, “Outlaw O.T by Bailey C.
