Offered in this lot are 10 Original Vintage Western Metal Tokens Including Anaconda Mining Company: two (2) large round "Anaconda from mine to consumer Made In USA" tool tags with serial numbers, two (2) "A.C.M. Co. (Anaconda Copper Mine Co.) LAMP" tags, one (1) "ANA. Co. (Anaconda Company) Tool Check" tag, one (1) "Vote For Bozeman for the Capitol 1892", one (1) "Saskatchewan Diamond Jubilee 1905-1965", one (1) US "Department of Agriculture-Forest Service Smokey Bear Pledge", one (1) "Leadville, COLO. Laura Evens Brothel Eat-Drink-Go To Bed Or Get Out", one (1) "Ford 1903-1933 Thirty Years of Progress". the earliest tokens in the West were issued by the traders connected to the military posts and date as early as 1860. Besides being used for giving change or for advertising purposes, tokens were used to help keep track of bartered goods and services. Brothel, bordello, cathouse... no matter what you called it you needed a brass check to enjoy it. These lighthearted and fun tokens are memorable pieces of the wild west - a time that is long gone, but not forgotten. All the tokens are well preserved, age related patina observed throughout.
