Offered in this lot we have a framed Charles Russell print titled "When The Red Man Talks War". Charles Marion Russell (March 19, 1864 – October 24, 1926),also known as C. M. Russell, Charlie Russell, and "Kid" Russell, was an artist of the Old American West. Russell created more than 2,000 paintings of cowboys, Indians, and landscapes set in the Western United States and in Alberta, Canada, in addition to bronze sculptures. Known as 'the cowboy artist', Russell was also a storyteller and author. The print displays four Native American braves, three on horseback and one standing on a ridge with a signal hide. The braves are covered in red war paint along with a few of the horses and are shown holding spears or bows. The group is shown standing on a grass and sage covered hill with a river and snow covered mountains in the background. The piece is signed in the bottom left hand corner reading "C M Russell" and marked in the bottom center "When The Red Man Talks War". The print is set into a nice wood frame and is marked across the back "When The Red Man Talks War". The piece shows good condition overall with some light wear on the frame. The frame measures 16 1/2" wide by 12 1/2" tall with the art measuring 13 1/4" wide by 9 1/4" tall.
