Featured in this lot is this gouache on board of a burial pyre by Kiowa artist White Buffalo or Bobby Hill born 1933 and died 1984 and circa 1972. The painting shows a wonderfully and professionally crafted gouache on board of a funeral or burial pyre built up above the ground using long branches and staked out in the high desert just outside the tree line. The Kiowa artist Bobby Hill used the name White Buffalo in his career as a professional artist. He was born on March 24, 1933 in Lawton, OK. He graduated from Anadarko (OK) High School in 1953. Bobby joined the U.S. Air Force, received training as a draftsman & served in Korea. The artist signature can be seen in the bottom right hand corner and reads: White Buffalo - Kiowa - '72. The condition of this painting is good with no obvious signs of damage to the artwork, the frame features some scratches and wear to the frame itself. The measurements of this painting are 16" x 20" and the visible art measures 10 1/4" x 14 1/4".
