Presented in this lot is an early Pre-Prohibition Wieland's Beer Advertising Tray, featuring beautiful graphics by American Art Works. The company, John Wieland's Brewing Co., logo (1890-1934) is featured on the face with a red crown over a vine laced large W. Known by many similar names, Wieland's Inc. operated from 1920, before and during Prohibition until 1933. Many breweries survived Prohibition by offering soft drinks or very low alcohol beer. Text on this tray reads, "Wieland's Beer" along the top inside rim and "The Home Beer" text along the bottom inside rim. An illustration of a elegantly dressed woman wearing gloves and reading a letter is featured on the tray face with yellow colored roses on her lap; "Congratulations" is written directly below her. Lovely colors and details highlight this vintage beer tray. "American Art Works, Coshocton, O." is written at the bottom right corner of the illustration. The tray is in very nice overall condition, normal scratches and crazing from use and age noted. Paint scuffing along edge rim is exhibited, but no other obvious marring observed.
