Featured in this lot is this limited edition print, originally done by Billings, Montana artist William (Bill) Rains, titled, "Billings First Fire Engine" 1980-90s. Clyde and Della Rains gave birth to Bill on November 3, 1936, in Forsyth, Montana. He married Melissa Ann Berryhill on January 5, 1956, in San Francisco, California, after meeting her while serving in the United States Navy. Bill and Melissa relocated to Billings, Montana, in 1969. As a professional artist, Bill spent his life painting and sculpting the people, culture, landscapes, and wildlife of Montana and the American West. Bill's influences were Montana artist Charlie Russell and Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh. Bill's art was collected by collectors around the United States. Bill's most renowned accomplishments are his life-size sculptures of country music's biggest stars, including Elvis Presley, Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, and Hank Williams. This limited edition print is numbered 24 out of 300 and shows Billings Fire Departments first fire engine. The fire engine is marked on the side reading, "B.F.D." while the front is marked reading, "Billings Fire Dept.". It is marked on the left hand corner reading, "Wm Rains ©", while the right hand corner is marked, "24/300". On the matting paper is a brass plaque reading, "Billings First Fire Engine / Artist / Bill Rain". It is matted once with black matting paper and set in a large wood frame. It is set behind glass to preserve its condition. The print shows good condition overall with no wear or damage present. The matting paper and the wood frame show wear present from its age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage is noted. The visible art measures 14 5/8" L x 21 5/8 " W, while the entire piece measures 26 3/4" L x 33 7/8" W x 2" D. It has a weight of 11 pounds and 8 ounces.
