Featured in this lot is this framed oil on canvas by San Diego artist William Blackman born in 1930. The artwork features a wonderfully and professionally crafted oil on canvas construction that shows a clear beach with waves coming in strong in the white water with three flying seagulls overtop of the waves. The artist signature is in the bottom left hand corner. The back is marked as follows: All Rights For Reproduction Reserved by Artist (signed by William Blackman). Artist William Blackman was born in California in 1930, and completed his first oil painting around the age of 12. He would not move forward as a painter until much later in life, first spending time as a graphic artist. He began painting steadily by the mid 1960s, setting up shop in California. Trips to Hawaii eventually inspired oil painter William Blackman to produce deeply colored land and seascapes. He was later employed by the United States National Art Gallery. In 1980, artist William Blackman started teaching in private studios, showing burgeoning young artists his techniques. William Blackman seascape paintings for sale were promoted by several prominent art galleries across the country, garnering him a good reputation in the art community. He was also known for the five books he published on art instruction. The condition of this oil on canvas is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage to the artwork with some wear to the frame consistent with age but otherwise shows a well preserved condition. The measurements of this framed painting is 37" x 61" and the visible artwork is 23 1/2" x 47 3/4". The collective weight of this framed artwork is 19lb 10oz.
