Featured in this lot is this etching called "Grand Attack of the Federal Ironclads, led by Admiral Dupont, Upon Fort Sumter and the other defences of Charleston Harbor, S.C., April 7, 1863" from an original sketch by William T. Crane. The etching features a wonderfully and professionally crafted construction that shows a harbor battle of Ironclads softening the defenses of Fort Sumter. The bottom of the etching reads as follows: Grand Attack of the Federal Ironclads, led by Admiral Dupont, Upon Fort Sumter and the other defences of Charleston Harbor, S.C., April 7, 1863 - From Sketch by W. T. Crane - Premium Plate No. 4 Presented to Subscribers to "The Soldier in our Civil War". The condition of this W. T. Crane etching is preserved with a larger tear into the top of the etching with some tears to the outside edge but otherwise is in preserved condition. The measurements of this etching is 13 1/4" x 43". The collective weight of this etching is U4oz.
