This is an antique Serial Number Winchester 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine in .30 WCF (.30-30) caliber, serial number 136918, made in 1898. The .30 WCF (Winchester Center Fire) caliber was introduced to the shooting public in 1895 as the first smokeless powder sporting cartridge. Only the first few years of production qualify as Pre-1899 Antiques and not subject to licensing requirements for shipping and transfer. This is the classic, early 1894 Carbine that was popular with the Klondike gold seekers, Texas Rangers, cowboys, ranchers, big game hunters and Mexican Revolutionaries. One of the best of the Jonathan Browning designs, the Model 1894 is still respected and used today. This fine 120 year old example still retains good naturally aged and uncleaned blue on the barrel and magazine tube. It retains the original carbine front sight and sports a special folding leaf
