Offered to you in this lot is a fine example of a Winchester Model 1892 Full Octagon, Lever Action Rifle. The rifle is chambered in .25-20 W.C.F. The rifle features a full-octagon 24 1/4" barrel, a rich walnut fore-grip and butt-stock, showing a steel crescent butt-plate, full tube-magazine, and a buckhorn rear sight, with a brass blade front sight. The 1892 was produced until 1945, and was originally manufactured by the renowned John Browning to act as a lighter version of the Model 1886. The rifle is marked in numerous places, reading; "Model 1892 - WINCHESTER - PAT. OCT. 14. 1884" on the upper tang, "Manufactured by the - Winchester Repeating Arms Co. New Haven. CONN. U.S.A." on the top of the barrel in front of the rear sight, "25-20 W.C.F." on the top of the barrel behind the rear sight, and "187528" on the bottom of the receiver, in front of the trigger assembly. Overall, the rifle shows good aesthetic and mechanical condition, with 65%+ blue finish, good walnut fixtures, free of any apparent cracks, and a tight action, and a good bore, with wear indicative of age.
