Featured in this lot we have a Winchester model 1892 lever action rifle chambered in .32 W.C.F. The rifle was manufactured by Winchester in 1903. The Model 1892 was one of Jonathan Browning’s best designs that incorporated all of the strength of the famed large caliber Model 1886 into a compact receiver intended for revolver length cartridges. Many frontiersmen, homesteaders and woodsmen relied on this model for all of their shooting needs. The Model 1892 replaced the relatively weak Model 1873 action and was intended to digest modern, smokeless powder ammunition that became available in the late 1890s. This rifle displays a 24" long octagonal barrel with matching full magazine in .32-20 caliber (.32 WCF- Winchester Center Fire) and is fitted with a correct Winchester full buckhorn rear sight complete with elevator bar and a correct Winchester small blade front sight. The barrel markings showing the Winchester address, etc., are clean with some pitting making some of the lettering unintelligible. The upper tang has the correct very early Winchester 1892 markings including the 1884 patent date. This rifle displays good mechanical condition with a smooth action and crisp trigger. The piece shows good condition overall with some wear and pitting across the exterior. The rifle weighs 7lbs 2oz. Serial Number: 218291. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic firearm, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
